Our Story

The Bafut Festival of Arts & Culture

BAFACULT 2026 (Mansoh Festival) is the annual celebration of Bafut cultural heritage, held in honor of His Royal Highness Abumbi II, the Fon of Bafut. This year's theme, "Bafut Culture Revival and Community Engagement for the Protection and Preservation of our UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site," reflects our commitment to preserving our rich traditions while engaging the community, especially youth, in cultural transmission.

Our Journey

Festival History

Bafut is one of the largest and most historically significant fondoms in the North West Region of Cameroon, with a rich history spanning over five centuries. The Bafut Palace (Fon's Palace) is a UNESCO-listed Cultural Heritage Site, recognized for its exceptional architectural and cultural significance. The Mansoh Dance, central to our festival, is a sacred tradition that embodies Bafut identity and spirituality.
Location

Bafut, Cameroon

The festival takes place at the historic Bafut Palace Cultural Heritage Site in the North West Region of Cameroon, approximately 20 kilometers from Bamenda. Key venues include the Bafut Palace Plaza (Nsani-Nfor), Grand Stands, Bujong Cultural Hall, and the sacred Mbah Shrine for the pilgrimage ceremony.
